Independence Palace is a mansion in Ho Chi Minh City, used to be the residence and working place of the President of the Republic of Vietnam before April 30, 1975. Currently, the palace has been ranked by the Government of Vietnam a national special monument.
The current Independence Palace was built on July 1, 1962, after the old palace from the French colonial period was damaged by the bombing of two pilots. The palace was built according to the design of architect Ngo Viet Thu, the first Vietnamese to win the Rome Grand Prix.
The relic site is located at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, classified as a national special monument. This place has witnessed many historical events, ups and downs of the country, especially the event of Liberation of the South to reunify the country on April 30, 1975.

After many name changes, now, the relic is called Independence Palace. The meaning of Independence Palace brings pride in the nation, about a heroic time against colonial invaders.
Uniquely designed Independence Palace, the whole Palace has more than 100 rooms decorated in different styles to suit each purpose. Up to now, this is still a project with unmistakable architectural imprints, affirming the talent and ingenuity of the architect as well as the builders.
